Miami, Florida (February 26, 2019): Janice A. Bartleson, PhD, a blind counselor and emotional/behavioral disabilities clinician employed by Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M‑DCPS) for more than twenty-seven years, has settled the lawsuit she filed against the school board last spring with the support of the National Federation of the Blind.

Baltimore, Maryland (April 23, 2020): The National Federation of the Blind, as part of its ongoing efforts to protect and connect blind Americans during the coronavirus pandemic, has partnered with Lyft to provide access to transportation for blind people by distributing Lyft discount codes through its affiliates.

Baltimore, Maryland (March 25, 2021): The National Federation of the Blind (NFB), America’s civil rights and membership organization of the blind, has reached an agreement with Amazon.com to expand employment opportunities for blind people at Amazon’s order fulfillment centers.

Raleigh, North Carolina (July 14, 2022): UNC Health Care System (“UNC Health”) will pay $125,000 in damages and admit to violating federal disability rights laws to settle legal claims by blind patients that UNC Health does not provide written materials in Braille, large print, or other accessible formats. 

The National Federation of the Blind, the transformative advocacy organization of blind people in the United States, commends the signing of H.R. 3935 into law.
